Is it fine if I fall asleep during the session?

It is encouraged that you stay present during the session. If you find yourself wandering away with your thoughts, take a few deep breaths and bring your attention back to the present moment. By staying present, you are aware of what is going on in your body. You will discover tension or sensation that you never thought existed. Through self-awareness of the body (which is not separated from you), healing can happen.

As a part of my body is being massaged, why do I feel it in another part of the body?

Inside the body, there is a protective layer of connective tissue known as Fascia. It runs continuously, without interruption, from the top of our head to underneath our feet, and to the fingers. Fascia is made up of densely packed protein fibers woven throughout the entire body, and it binds and supports every muscle, bone, the spinal cord and all internal organs. Working on one part of the body can have a direct effect on other parts of the body, too.

How will I feel after the session?

Most clients share that they feel a sense of deep relaxation, their bodies feel lighter and more ‘spacious’. Some people feel taller and breathe deeper. And often, clients notice warm, tingling sensations or vibrations throughout their bodies, which indicates that the energy is flowing again.

How frequently should I get a session?

If you have existing chronic pain or a specific issue to address, it is beneficial to receive 3-5 sessions, ideally a week apart, until the issue is resolved or become manageable. For general maintenance of healthy tissue and well-being, a session once a month is recommended.

What are the benefits of receiving regular massages?

After each session, the muscles will become more and more relaxed and ‘open’. This allows the therapist to subsequently work through the superficial layer of muscles, to reach the underlying deeper muscles. Often times, chronic pain is caused by the smaller and deeper muscles that are more difficult to reach and to treat. By receiving regular sessions, the result of each successive session will be cumulative on the previous sessions. If the sessions are too far apart, it will be ‘back to square one’ and the therapist will need to work through the superficial muscles again.
